What you’ll need

Ingredients

  • Weed buds 14g

  • Coconut oil or any oil you prefer

Equipment:

  • Cheesecloth or a fine sieve

  • Double boiler, or a pot and 

  • A heat-proof bowl

  • Cannabis grinder

Step A

Decarb weed:

  • Preheat the oven to 220°F and line a baking sheet in a tray.

  • Let the weed cool at room temperature and grind it in a cannabis grinder. You can toss it in a coffee grinder or crumble it between your fingers if you don’t have a cannabis grinder.

  • Take a pot and fill it with 2 inches of water. Bring it to boil on a medium heat.

  • Place the decarbed weed in a heat-proof bowl and then add 470 ml coconut oil to it. You can use olive oil, canola oil, or cooking oil to infuse it with THC.

  • Place this bowl filled with oil and decarbed weed over the boiling water. Let it simmer for 2 to 6 hours on a low heat. Remember to stir the mixture frequently to maintain an even heat.

  • Let the cannabis-infused oil cool at room temperature and strain it using cheesecloth in a jar.

Note:  If you want to skip the double boiler, you can heat the coconut oil and decarbed weed in a pan for 3 hours. Stir the mixture every 10 minutes to ensure it doesn’t burn.

Part 2: How to make cannabis-infused gummies at home

What you will need

Ingredients

  • Flavored gelatin      3 oz.

  • Water 120ml or fruit juice

  • Unflavored gelatin    2 tbsp.

  • Infused cannabis oil   0.5  tsp

  • lecithin powder or oil   5g

  • Sugar

Equipment or supplies

  • Saucepan

  • Whisk or spoon

  • Turkey baster

  • Gummies Molds

  • Air tight jar

Step A

Prepare your gummy mold:

Spray a layer of coconut or cooking oil on your gummy mold to avoid sticking when removing the gummies from the mold. 

Step B

Heat cannabis-infused oil and water:

  • Take 120ml of water and 0.5 tsp of cannabis-infused oil in a saucepan and heat the mixture over low heat for about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally using a spoon or spatula.

  • You can add an equal amount of fruit juice or a spoonful of fruit puree instead of water for a burst of flavor.

Step C

Mix in flavored and unflavored gelatin and lecithin powder and heat the mixture:

  • Once the water reaches the simmering point, add 2 tbsp. of unflavored gelatin, a pack of flavored gelatin, and 5 grams of lecithin powder to the pan, and whisk this mixture for 15 minutes until gelatin fully dissolves.

Step D

Add sweetener

  • Add sugar or honey and stir the mixture for a consistent texture. 

Note: If you want to make your gummies sour, you can add citric acid. This will enhance its fruity profile and give your gummies a tangy taste.

Step E

Pour the mixture into the gummy mold

  • Set the mold onto the baking sheet and fill it with the mixture to the brim. 

  • If you don’t want to pour the mixture directly, you can first pour it into a measuring cup and transfer it to your gummy mold. It may also be easier to fill the mold with a turkey baster.

Tip:  Avoid leaving the mixture on heat because the oil will separate from this mixture. The quicker you place your gummy mixture into the mold, the better your finished product will turn out.  

Step F

Place the mold into the freezer

The final step is to place your gummy mold into the freezer for about an hour. Once they get hardened, take them out from the freezer and remove them from your mold.

Step G

Place them in an air-tight jar 

Place your cannabis gummies in an air-tight jar. The shelf life of gummies is usually over a month, meaning you can keep your homemade weed gummies in the freezer for about a month.
